System Check

  1. Enter correct 5 digit code into keypad. If keyless entry system is operating properly, the illuminated entry system will be activated after first keypad depression. An audible tone will be heard for each input, and driver's door unlocks.
  2. Depress "1/2" keypad within 5 seconds of last entry. See Figure . All doors should unlock. Depress "3/4" keypad within 5 seconds of last entry. Trunk lid should open.
  3. Arm theft deterrent system (if equipped) and enter correct entry code. If keyless entry system is operating properly, the theft deterrent system will disarm and will not sound.
  4. Randomly depress 17 keypads. An audible tone should be heard for the first 16 keypad depressions. No tone should be heard for 17th keypad depression (keyless entry system is in tamper-proof mode).
  5. Wait one minute after last entry. After one minute, an audible tone should be heard. Enter correct code to unlock driver's door. If any test result is incorrect, go to specific keyless entry system malfunction test(s).
