Air Bag Disabling & Activating

  1. To disable air bag, turn ignition off. Remove SIR fuse from fuse block. Disconnect Yellow SIR connector at base of steering column. On models with passenger-side air bag, also disconnect Yellow SIR connector under right side of instrument panel.
  2. Wait 15 minutes minimum before working on vehicle. All connectors used on SIR system use Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips to ensure connector retention.
  3. To activate air bag system, turn ignition off. Connect Yellow SIR connector(s). Ensure to connect CPA clip to Yellow connector(s). Install SIR fuse. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe INFLATABLE RESTRAINT indicator light. Light should flash several times, and then go out.
