Theft Deterrent Relearn

NOTE: If theft deterrent relearn procedure is not performed when BCM is replaced, vehicle may not be protected by PASS-Key(R) II system or engine will not crank or start.
NOTE: Ensure battery is fully charged before performing this procedure. Programming theft deterrent relearn will take about 30 minutes.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. SECURITY warning indicator light should illuminate for about 10 minutes, then turn off. When indicator light turns off, turn ignition switch to LOCK position for 5 seconds.
  2. Repeat previous step 2 more times, for a total of 3 10-minute ignition cycles. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Start engine. Vehicle should now start.
