Charge Indicator Light Never On

  1. Disconnect generator wire connector. Turn ignition on. Connect fused jumper wire between harness connector terminal "B" (Valeo A13VI) or terminal "L" (CS144) and ground. If indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 5).
  2. Check terminal "B" or "L" connection. If connection is okay, go to step 4). If connection is poor or open, go to next step.
  3. Repair poor or open connection. Recheck system.
  4. Replace generator. Recheck system.
  5. Disconnect PCM Blue 80-pin connector C2. Connect a jumper wire between PCM harness connector C2, terminal No. 61 (Red wire) and ground. If indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 9).
  6. Check circuit between generator terminal "L" and PCM connector C2, terminal No. 61 (Red wire) for poor connection or open circuit. If circuit is okay, go to step 8). If poor connection or open circuit exists, go to next step.
  7. Repair circuit. Recheck system.
  8. Replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Recheck system.
    • N - REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL - 3.1L
    • N - REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL - 3.8L
  9. Check indicator light bulb. Check circuit between fuse block and instrument panel (Pink wire). Check circuit between instrument panel and PCM (Dark Green wire). If bulb is faulty or circuit(s) is poor, go to next step. If bulb and circuits are okay, go to step 11).
  10. Replace indicator light bulb or repair circuit as needed. Recheck system.
  11. Replace instrument cluster. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT section. Recheck system.
