DTC B1015: VIN Information Error: Description

Modules connected to class 2 device use Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to learn what vehicle BCM is installed. When ignition is in ON position, the PCM sends a signal along class 2 serial data link to BCM. The BCM will compare the VIN sent from the PCM with VIN digits 2 through 5 stored in BCM memory.

DTC B1015 will set when stored VIN information in BCM and PCM do not match. The SERVICE ENGINE SOON light will be illuminated when this code is present.

A current DTC B1015 will clear if malfunction is no longer present and scan tool is used to clear DTC. A history DTC B1015 will clear from memory after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if condition for setting code is no longer present.
