DTC B1015: VIN Information Error: Testing
- Perform BCM diagnostic system check. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, observe VIN information in BCM, new VIN function, which resides in special functions menu. If scan tool displays proper VIN information, go to next step. If scan tool does not display proper VIN information, go to step 4 .
- Using scan tool, observe VIN information in PCM ID information menu, which resides in special functions menu. If scan tool displays proper VIN information, go to step 5 . If scan tool does not display proper VIN information, go to step 6 .
- Using scan tool, enter correct VIN information into BCM NEW VIN function. After inputting data, go to step 7 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, perform set up procedure. See NEW BCM SETUP under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Reprogram PCM. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - GENERAL MOTORS CORP. article in GENERAL INFORMATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate vehicle within conditions to set DTC. If DTC resets, return to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
