DTC B1482: Inadvertent Power Short To Ground: Testing

  1. Perform lighting system diagnostic system check. See LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Enter BCM data list on scan tool and observe INADV POWER INPUT parameter. If scan tool displays ON, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ON, go to step  4 .
  3. Activate inadvertent power input by activating the retained accessory power (RAP) feature and operating power window system or any other device on the RAP circuit. If scan tool INADV POWER INPUT parameter changes state, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If scan tool INADV POWER INPUT parameter does not change state, go to next step.
  4. Test Orange wire between INADV POWER BUS fuse (15-amp) in fuse block and BCM harness connector C4 terminal "K" for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  7 . If fault is not located and condition still exists, go to next step.
  5. Inspect for poor connections at BCM harness connector C4. After repair, go to step  7 . If fault is not located and condition still exists, go to next step.
  6. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, perform set up procedure. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool, clear BCM DTCs. Operate vehicle within conditions to set DTC. If DTC B1482 resets, return to step  2 . If DTC B1482 does not reset, system is okay.
