DTC B2533: Front Fog Lamps Control Circuit High: Testing

  1. Perform lighting system diagnostic system check. See LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Enter BCM data list on scan tool and observe FOG LAMP RELAY parameter. If scan tool displays OFF, go to next step. If scan tool does not display OFF, go to step  4 .
  3. While monitoring FOG LAMP RELAY parameter on scan tool, turn fog lamp switch on and off. If parameter changes state when fog lamp switch is turned on and off, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If parameter does not change state when fog lamp switch is turned on and off, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fog lamp switch. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe FOG LAMP RELAY parameter. If scan tool displays OFF, go to step  7 . If scan tool does not display OFF, go to next step.
  5. Test Orange wire between fog lamp switch and BCM harness connector C3 terminal A6 for short to battery voltage. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  10 . If fault is not located and condition still exists, go to next step.
  6. Inspect for poor connections at BCM harness connector C3. After repair, go to step  10 . If fault is not located and condition still exists, go to step  8 .
  7. Inspect for poor connections at fog lamp switch. After repair, go to step  10 . If fault is not located and condition still exists, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, perform set up procedure. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace fog lamp switch. After replacement, go to next step.
  10. Using scan tool, clear BCM DTCs. Operate vehicle within conditions to set DTC. If DTC B2533 resets, return to step  2 . If DTC B2533 does not reset, system is okay.
