DECKLID Release Inoperative

  1. Perform body rear end diagnostic system check. See BODY REAR END DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Activate power door lock switch to LOCK position, and then to UNLOCK position. If power door locks operate, go to next step. If power door locks do not operate, go to step  13 .
  3. Turn ignition off and connect scan tool. With a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe Brown wire at decklid release relay harness connector C2 while using scan tool to activate decklid release function. If test light illuminates when decklid release function is commanded, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate when decklid release function is commanded, go to step  5 .
  4. With a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe Brown wire at BCM harness connector C3 terminal A9 while using scan tool to activate decklid release function. If test light illuminates when decklid release function is commanded, go to step  6 . If test light does not illuminate when decklid release function is commanded, go to step  10 .
  5. Connect a test light across terminals "A" (Black/White wire) and "B" (Black wire) of decklid lock release actuator harness connector while using scan tool to activate decklid release function. If test light illuminates when decklid release function is commanded, go to step  15 . If test light does not illuminate when decklid release function is commanded, go to step  7 .
  6. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe terminal "B" (Black wire) of decklid lock release actuator harness connector. If test light illuminates, go to step  11 . If test light does not illuminate when decklid release function is commanded, go to step  13 .
  7. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe terminal C1 (Orange wire) of decklid release relay harness connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  16 .
  8. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper between decklid release relay harness terminals C1 (Orange wire) and A2 (Black/White wire). Using a test light connected to ground, probe terminal "A" (Black/White wire) of decklid lock release actuator harness connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  14 .
  9. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, perform set up procedure. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to step  12 .
  10. Replace decklid lock release actuator. After repair, go to step  16 .
  11. Replace decklid lock release relay. After repair, go to step  16 .
  12. Locate and repair open in Black wire between decklid lock release actuator terminal "B" and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  16 .
  13. Locate and repair open Orange wire between decklid release relay terminals A1 and C1 and DOOR LOCKS fuse (20-amp) in fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  16 .
  14. Locate and repair open Brown wire between decklid release relay terminals C2 and BCM harness connector C3 terminal A9. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  16 .
  15. Locate and repair open Black/White wire between decklid release relay terminal A2 and decklid lock release actuator terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  16 .
  16. Verify system operation by activating decklid release function. If system is okay, repairs are complete. If system is not okay, repeat test.
