Retained Accessory Power (Rap) On After Timeout

  1. Perform retained accessory power (RAP) diagnostic system check. See RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER (RAP) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Verify that fault is present by test driving and operating all systems. If system operates normally, fault is intermittent. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  . If fault is present, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and disconnect RAP relay. Check operation of power windows, radio and sunroof for correct operation. If power windows, radio and sunroof operate correctly, go to next step. If power windows, radio and sunroof do not operate properly, go to step  5 .
  4. Repair short to battery voltage in Dark Blue wire between RAP relay and fuse block or in Yellow wire between fuse block and each component. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repair, go to step  9 .
  5. Open one car door and remove key from ignition switch. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe Black wire between RAP relay terminal A1 and BCM harness connector C3 terminal A10. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to step  7 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  6. Replace RAP relay. After repair, go to step  9 .
  7. Test Black wire between RAP relay terminal A1 and BCM harness connector C3 terminal A10 for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If fault is located and repaired, go to step  9 . If fault is not located and condition still exists, go to next step.
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, perform set up procedure. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to next step.
  9. Verify system operation by activating RAP function. If system is okay, repairs are complete. If system is not okay, go to step  2 .
