Impala, Monte Carlo & Regal

NOTE: A scan tool and Techline® terminal can be used to perform relearn procedure. Refer to scan tool and Techline® terminal manufacturer's instructions. Procedure will take about 10 minutes with use of scan tool and Techline® terminal. Programming theft deterrent relearn using following method (without scan tool and Techline® terminal) will take about 30 minutes.
  1. Ensure battery is fully charged. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to START position, then leave ignition switch in ON position. Engine will not crank. SECURITY indicator should come on for about 10 minutes, then turn off. When indicator turns off, turn ignition switch to LOCK position for 5 seconds.
  2. Repeat previous step 2 more times, for a total of 3 ignition cycles. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to START position. Engine should now start.
