Shift Lock Solenoid (Column Shift)

  1. Remove the knee bolster. See KNEE BOLSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Pull out the tab (1) on the adjuster block side (2) of the solenoid. See Fig 1 .
  3. Press on the adjuster block (2) in order to compress the internal adjuster spring and disengage the adjuster teeth. Slide the adjuster block as far away from the solenoid as possible. See Fig 1 .
  4. Lock in place by pushing in on the tab (1). See Fig 1 .
  5. Inspect the solenoid.
  6. The solenoid must lock the shift lever clevis when you place the clevis in the park position.
  7. If you can move the shift lever without pressing on the brake pedal, readjust the solenoid.
  8. Install the knee bolster. See KNEE BOLSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
