Power Steering Pump Replacement

Power Steering Pump Replacement

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Cover the generator in order to prevent power steering fluid from dripping on the generator.
  2. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
  3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Remove the right front wheelhouse front liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Front Liner Replacement .
  7. Disconnect the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley only. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
1 Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Clamp
2 Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose
Procedure 
Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.
3 Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose Fitting Bolt
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Procedure 
Install 2 NEW power steering gear inlet hose fitting seals.
Tighten 
38 N.m (28 lb ft)
4 Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose
Procedure 
Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose from the power steering pump.
5 Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)
Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
6 Power Steering Pump

Procedure

  1. Transfer the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  2. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  3. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the drain pans.
  5. Remove the cover from the generator.
