Installation Procedure
Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .
Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution .
- Install the BPMV insulator (1) to the BPMV bracket (3).
- Install the BPMV (2).
- Install the 3 BPMV bracket bolts (4) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the BPMV bracket assembly (1).
- Install the 2 BPMV bracket bolts (2) and tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install the 6 brake pipes (1, 2) to the BPMV and tighten to 18 N.m (14 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the EBCM/EBTCM.
- Install the radiator surge tank (1).
- Install the radiator surge tank clip (2).
- Program the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Programming and Setup .
- Perform the diagnostic system check - Vehicle. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .
- Calibrate the brake pressure modulator valve pressure sensor. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pressure Sensor Calibration .
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
- Center the steering angle sensor. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Centering .
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Make sure brake pipes are correctly connected to brake pressure modulator valve. If brake pipes are switched by mistake, wheel lockup will occur and personal injury may result. The only two ways this condition can be detected are by using a Scan Tool or by doing an Antilock stop.
Only use products that comply with GM specifications and check manufacturer information respectively. We recommend the use of GM genuine products. Instructions must be followed at all times. The use of any type of fluid other than the recommended type of brake fluid, may cause contamination which could result in damage to the internal rubber seals and/or rubber linings of hydraulic brake system components.
