Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9) 
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  3. Remove Transfer Case. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement
    4. Fig 1: Engine Coolant Heater Cord, Electrical Connector, Battery Positive Cable And Starter Solenoid Cable Nut

  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
  5. {If equipped} Disconnect Engine Coolant Heater Cord (2)
  6. Remove Starter Solenoid Cable Nut (3)
  7. Remove Battery Positive Cable (4)

  8. Remove Starter Mounting Nut (1)
  9. Remove Starter Mounting Bolt (2)
  10. Remove Starter (3)
