Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Steering Assist Motor, Bolt And Gear Drive Coupling

    NOTE:

    The steering gear drive coupling and assist motor armature should be aligned with the gear inside of the steering gear housing to aid in installation, otherwise interference MAY occur.

  1. Power Steering Assist Motor 2 - Install
    1. Install NEW O-ring seal. 4
    2. Steering Gear Drive Coupling 3 - Install
    3. Align the power steering assist motor (2) with the steering gear housing and install three NEW power steering assist motor bolts (1) by hand.
    4. Power Steering Assist Motor Bolt 1 - Tighten 8 (71 lb in)

  2. Connect the electrical connector 1 to the power steering assist motor.
  3. Verify connector 1 is fully seated by lightly pulling on the connector.

    NOTE:

    If the connector position assurance lock 1 was damaged during removal, discard it and skip step 5.

  4. Install the connector position assurance lock 1 into the electrical connector 2 until fully seated.
  5. Electric Dual Pinion Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install - Electric Dual Pinion Rack and Pinion Steering Gear Replacement (GNA, GNB, FWD) Electric Dual Pinion Rack and Pinion Steering Gear Replacement (GNA, GNB, AWD) 
  6. Transfer the key cycle count from the OLD steering gear control module to the NEW steering gear control module. Control Module References
