Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
- Test for 4.8 - 5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 4, and ground.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the K38 Chassis Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the 5 V reference circuit, K38 Chassis Control Module terminal 1, and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the 5 V reference circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- Test for infinite resistance between the 5 V reference circuit, terminal 1, and all other pins of the K38 Chassis Control Module connector.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the shorted together condition in the affected circuits.
- If infinite resistance, replace the K38 Chassis Control Module.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the K38 Chassis Control Module.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Test for less than 1 V between 5 V reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.

- Go to next step: If between 4.8 - 5.2 V
- Test for 4.875 - 5.125 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 4, and the low reference circuit terminal 2.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the K38 Chassis Control Module.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Test for less than 1 V between the low reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
