Pcm Code EO70, Intermittent TPS Signal: Action:
No code set. No service message.
This diagnostic test monitors MAP and TPS sensors. If MAP value remains constant and there is a large change in TPS value, code will set. Engine operation requires that any large change in TPS value must be followed by a change in MAP sensor value.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Code EO70 is not present at this time unless a Code 21, 22, 31 or 34 is current. This code indicates an unacceptable high rate of TPS change.
- As the ISC extends, TPS voltage as measured at the TPS jumper should increase at a steady rate. A dead spot in the TPS will cause voltage to jump erratically as the ISC moves the TPS past that spot. Use a high impedance needle-type voltmeter this test.
- If the throttle blade cannot return to the idle stop, the throttle valves may be coked or binding. These conditions may set Codes EO55 and EO58.
- Improper TPS adjustment, such as forcing or tapping on the TPS without loosening the attaching screws, will damage the TPS and can cause Code EO70 to set.
