Pcm Code EO71, Intermittent Map Sensor: Action:

Code EO71 set. No service message.

This test monitors TPS, RPM, MAP, EGR flow and A/C clutch. If all these parameters remain constant, and there is a rapid change in MAP, a code will set. Engine operation requires that a large change in manifold pressure must be preceded by a change in throttle angle.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Check terminal crimp to the wire and ensure that terminals are properly seated in their connectors. The 5-volt reference can be tested by jumpering harness terminals "A", "B" and "C" to MAP sensor terminals "A", "B" and "C". Connect DVOM positive lead to jumper lead "C" and negative lead to jumper lead "A". Turn ignition on. Apply vacuum signal to sensor and tap lightly on sensor with a pencil or pocket screwdriver. Voltage should remain between 4.6-5.1 volts, when sensor is tapped.
