Status Lights
While in diagnostics liquid crystal displays on Electronic Climate Control (ECC) panel are used to indicate status of various inputs and operating conditions. The meaning of each word or symbol on CCP panel will change depending on whether BCM or PCM system level is selected. The following is a description of what each word and symbol represents in each system:
- OFF
The OFF status indicator is turned ON whenever BCM commands air inlet valve to recirculation position. - AUTO
The AUTO status indicator is turned ON whenever up-down air control switch on CCP is in NORMAL position. - FRONT DEFROST
The defrost (front windshield defrost ISO symbol) status indicator is turned on whenever BCM is requesting PCM to engage A/C compressor clutch. The light does not indicate whether clutch is enabled or disabled by PCM. Actual operation depends on PCM and on integrity of compressor clutch system. - REAR DEFROST
The rear defrost (rear window defrost ISO symbol) status indicator is turned ON whenever BCM senses that low refrigerant pressure switch is open. The light should remain OFF if refrigerant system is fully charged, unless high side refrigerant temperature drops below -5°F (-21°C). Below -5°F (-21°C), low refrigerant pressure switch will open due to temperature/pressure relationship of freon. - LO FAN
The LO FAN status indicator is turned ON whenever BCM is commanding A/C-DEF mode door to divert air flow to A/C outlets, as in A/C or normal purge modes. - NORM FAN
The NORM FAN status indicator is turned on whenever BCM is commanding HVAC Programmer to close heater water valve preventing coolant from flowing from engine to heater core. - HI FAN
The HI FAN status indicator is turned ON whenever BCM is commanding HVAC Programmer to not supply vacuum to park brake release motor (park brake remains applied). The light is OFF when BCM commands park brake to be released.
