DTC P053: 4X Reference Signal Interrupt From Ignition Control Module: Action

Code sets, no service telltale or message.

NOTE: Numbers in list refer to circled numbers in diagnostic flow chart, see Fig 1. For circuit identification see Fig 2.

Check to see if Code P035 is set, because a REF LO problem can cause other ignition problems.
Checking for power to the ignition control module.
Checking ignition control module ability to produce 4X reference pulses. If the system is operating correctly, you will measure 30 Hz or greater.
Open at fuse block. Check terminal contact.
Checking for open or short to ground on CKT 430.
