Antenna/Transmitter Operation Test

  1. Disconnect antenna from keyless entry module. Hold a transmitter close to keyless entry module and push unlock button. If left door unlocks, go to step 2). If left door does not unlock, reprogram keyless entry module and repeat step. If left door still does not unlock, go to POWER & GROUND TEST  . If left door does unlock, reprogram keyless entry module using other transmitter.
  2. Check antenna connections at keyless entry module and at rear window for good contact. Check continuity of antenna grid by measuring resistance. Place one meter probe at one end of grid and other probe on connector terminal. If meter reads an open circuit, there is a break in the grid.
  3. Location of break can be found by moving outer probe toward connector, keeping probe in contact with grid. Break is located at point where resistance drops. If antenna grid is okay, problem is in coaxial cable.
