Self-Diagnostic System: Introduction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Cadillac Eldorado and 1998 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Vehicles with analog instrument panel cluster are equipped with a Climate Control Panel (CCP). Vehicles with digital instrument panel cluster are equipped with a Climate Control Center (CCC). References to CCP also include CCC.
Platform Zone Module (PZM) is equipped with a self-diagnostic system, which detects system failures or abnormalities. When a malfunction occurs, PZM will store a 5-digit alphanumeric Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
After PZM DTCs have been displayed, service mode can be used to clear DTCs and exit diagnostics or individually perform other tests on different systems. To continue with system diagnostics, see SERVICE MODE OPERATION. To exit diagnostic mode, press DEFOG or MODE button on CCP, or turn ignition off. DTCs will not be cleared. System will return to normal vehicle operation.
