DTC B1780: Theft Lock Enabled: Testing

  1. Perform radio/audio system diagnostic system check. See RADIO/AUDIO SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off and install scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for any radio DTCs. If DTC B1780 is set, go to next step. If DTC B1780 is not set, system is okay. Testing is complete.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select RADIO THEFT from SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu. If VIN displayed on radio matches vehicle VIN, go to step  5 . If VIN displayed on radio does not match vehicle VIN, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select CLEAR THEFT and follow instructions on scan tool to perform clearing procedure. Reselect RADIO THEFT. If VIN displayed on radio matches vehicle VIN, go to step  7 . If VIN displayed on radio does not match vehicle VIN, go to step  6 .
  5. Turn ignition off. Open a door (if all doors were closed when ignition was turned off) to over-ride retained accessory power option. Turn ignition on. Turn radio on. If radio is still in theft lock mode, go to next step. If radio is not in theft lock mode, go to step  7 .
  6. Replace radio. After replacement, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Reconnect any disconnected components or connectors that were previously disconnected or removed. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear radio DTCs. If all DTCs are cleared, system is okay.
