Remote Keyless Entry Systems: Operation

Transmitter must be within 30 feet of vehicle for receiver to detect coded signal. When LOCK button is depressed once on transmitter and Body Control Module (BCM) receives a signal with a valid vehicle access code, lock function sequence is performed. All doors and fuel filler door lock. Parking lights will flash once and theft deterrent system will arm (if equiped). When UNLOCK button on transmitter is pressed once, signal is received by BCM. BCM unlocks driver's door, flashes park lights and disarms theft deterrent system (if equiped). If sun sensor indicates sufficient darkness, BCM will activate interior entry lights for 20 seconds. When UNLOCK button is pressed a second time (within 1-5 seconds of the first) remaining doors will unlock.

When fuel filler door release is depressed, fuel filler door will unlock. Depress trunk button to unlock trunk. These functions are disabled if ignition switch is in RUN position or transmission is not in PARK or NEUTRAL.
