Remote Keyless Entry System Inoperative

  1. Ignition in LOCK position. Transmission in PARK. All doors closed. Using vehicle door lock switches, manually operate driver/passenger door locks. If door locks operate properly, go to next step. If door locks do not operate properly, see appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Place transmission in Park. Depress trunk and fuel door release switches on vehicle. If trunk lid and fuel door release, go to next step. If trunk lid or fuel door do not release, repair wiring as necessary. See POWER REAR COMPARTMENT & FUEL DOOR RELEASE SYSTEMS article.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Close driver/passenger doors. With transmitter within 10 feet of vehicle, operate all functions of transmitter. If all functions of transmitter operate, go to next step. If all functions of transmitter do not operate, see TRANSMITTER TEST  .
  4. Problem could be intermitternt. Check for proper range. Rainy or snowy weather decreases range. Check for obstructions. Other vehicles or objects will decrease range. Check for electrical interference. Cellular phones, power lines, radio towers and garage door openers will interfere. Check routing of antenna from BCM.
