Charging Systems: Description

DeVille uses an LR630 (150-amp) generator. "LR" stands for liquid-cooled rectifier bridge. The "6" stands for permanent magnet hybrid. The "30" stands for 130 millimeter outside diameter of stator laminations.

The generator and related charging system circuitry has self-diagnostic capability. A communication process has been incorporated between Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and generator. When the generator circuit voltage passes outside of programmed limits (10-16 volts), Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will be set. The malfunction may also be indicated by BATTERY VOLTS LOW, BATTERY VOLTS HIGH or SERVICE ENGINE SOON message on Driver Information Center (DIC).

The voltage regulator is enclosed in a solid mold, mounted inside the generator. A capacitor, mounted in the end frame, protects the rectifier bridge from high voltage and suppresses radio noise.
