Steering Column Control Module

After replacement of steering column module, it is necessary to program tilt/telescoping soft stops. Each soft stop is a programmable end of travel that is set approximately 0.5" (1.3 cm) from mechanical end of travel to prevent wear on mechanical components.

  1. Turn ignition on, engine off.
  2. To set tilt up soft stop, press tilt/telescoping COLUMN UP switch at least 8 times or until column moves, then release switch.
  3. Press tilt/telescoping COLUMN UP switch and hold until column travels all the way up, and continue to hold switch about a second after motion stops at the mechanical end of travel. Soft stop for column up position is now set. The tilt/telescoping module will automatically go back to normal mode of operation.
  4. Repeat steps  2 and  3 , using COLUMN DOWN switch, to set column down position soft stop.
  5. Repeat steps  2 and  3 , using COLUMN OUT switch, to set column out position soft stop.
  6. Repeat steps  2 and  3 , using COLUMN IN switch, to set column in position soft stop.
