Test B: Driver's Power Window Inoperative

  1. If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Attempt to operate power windows. If driver's power window is inoperative, go to next step. If driver's power window operates, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to operate driver's power window from driver's power window switch. If driver's power window does not operate, go to next step. If driver's power window operates, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  4. Using driver's power window switch, attempt to operate passenger's power window. If passenger's power window operates, go to next step. If passenger's power window does not operate, go to step  7 .
  5. Disconnect driver's power window motor 2-pin harness connector. Connect a test light between ground and driver's power motor harness connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire). Using driver's power window switch, operate driver's power window to UP position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  6. Connect a test light between driver's power window motor harness connector terminals "A" (Brown wire) and "B" (Dark Blue wire). Using driver's power window switch, operate driver's power window to UP and DOWN positions. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step  9 . If test light illuminates in either position, go to step  10 .
  7. Inspect Pink wire for an open or high resistance between driver's power window switch harness connector terminal "H" and splice No. S322. S322 is located in body wiring harness, 14.7" from Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) breakout. If an open or high resistance is not found, go to step  11 . If an open or high resistance is found, repair Pink wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  14 .
  8. Inspect Dark Blue wire for an open or short to ground between driver's power window motor and driver's power window switch. If an open or short to ground is not found, go to step  11 . If an open or short to ground is found, repair Dark Blue wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  14 .
  9. Inspect Brown wire for an open or short to ground between driver's power window motor and driver's power window switch. If an open or short to ground is not found, go to step  11 . If an open or short to ground is found, repair Brown wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  14 .
  10. Inspect driver's power window motor harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  12 . If poor connections are found, repair driver's power window motor harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  14 .
  11. Inspect driver's power window switch harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  13 . If poor connections are found, repair driver's power window switch harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  14 .
  12. Replace driver's power window motor, then go to step  14 .
  13. Replace driver's power window switch, then go to next step.
  14. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
