Test C: Passenger's Power Window Inoperative

  1. If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Attempt to operate power windows. If passenger's power window is inoperative, go to next step. If passenger's power window operates, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using driver's power window switch, attempt to operate passenger's power window. If passenger's power window does not operate, go to next step. If passenger's power window operates, go to step  14 .
  4. Using passenger's power window switch, attempt to operate passenger's power window. If passenger's power window does not operate, go to next step. If passenger's power window operates, go to step  11 .
  5. Disconnect passenger's power window switch 8-pin harness connector. Connect a test light between ground and passenger's power window switch harness connector terminal "D" (Light Blue wire). See Figure . Using driver's power window switch, operate passenger's power window to UP position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  12 .
  6. Connect a test light between passenger's power window switch harness connector terminals "D" (Light Blue wire) and "H" (Tan wire). Using driver's power window switch, operate passenger's power window in UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in either position, go to step  13 .
  7. Connect passenger's power window switch harness connector. Disconnect passenger's power window motor 2-pin harness connector. Connect a test light between ground and passenger's power window motor harness connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire). Using passenger's power window switch, operate passenger's power window to UP position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  9 .
  8. Connect a test light between passenger's power window motor harness connector terminals "A" (Brown wire) and "B" (Dark Blue wire). Using passenger's power window switch, operate passenger's power window to UP and DOWN positions. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step  10 . If test light illuminates in either position, go to step  15 .
  9. Inspect Dark Blue wire for an open or short to ground between passenger's power window motor and passenger's power window switch. If an open or short to ground is not found, go to step  16 . If an open or short to ground is found, repair Dark Blue wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  10. Inspect Brown wire for an open or short to ground between passenger's power window motor and passenger's power window switch. If an open or short to ground is not found, go to step  16 . If an open or short to ground is found, repair Brown wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  11. Inspect Light Blue wire and Tan wire for a short to ground between passenger's power window switch and driver's power window switch. If a short to ground is not found in either circuit, go to step  17 . If a short to ground is found in either circuit, repair Light Blue wire and/or Tan wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  12. Inspect Light Blue wire for an open between driver's power window switch and passenger's power window switch. If an open is not found, go to step  17 . If an open is found, repair Light Blue wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  13. Inspect Tan wire for an open between driver's power window switch and passenger's power window switch. If an open is not found, go to step  17 . If an open is found, repair Tan wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  14. Inspect Pink wire for an open or high resistance between passenger's power window switch and Retained Accessory Power (RAP) relay. RAP relay is located in left front passenger's compartment, taped to body wiring harness. See Figure . If an open or high resistance is not found, go to step  18 . If an open or high resistance is found, repair Pink wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  15. Inspect passenger's power window motor harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  19 . If poor connections are found, repair passenger's power window motor harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  16. Inspect passenger's power window switch harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  20 . If poor connections are found, repair passenger's power window switch harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  17. Inspect driver's power window switch harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  21 . If poor connections are found, repair driver's power window switch harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  18. Repair Pink wire as necessary, then go to step  22 .
  19. Replace passenger's power window motor, then go to step  22 .
  20. Replace passenger's power window switch, then go to step  22 .
  21. Replace driver's power window switch, then go to next step.
  22. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
