Removal & Installation

- On models equipped with air conditioning, set vent position to center instrument panel ducts. On all models, disconnect negative battery cable. Disable airbag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
- Apply parking brake. Shift transmission to first gear (automatic transmission only). Tilt steering wheel to full down position. Pull rearward gently on instrument panel bezel. Set instrument panel bezel aside. Remove instrument panel end panels.
- Remove left air outlet screws. Pull out on left air outlet. Disconnect electrical connectors. Remove left air outlet. Remove center air outlet screw. Remove center air outlet. Firmly pull right air outlet to left to release from instrument panel. Depress release tabs for assist handle, accessing them through air outlet duct holes.
- Remove door sill plates. Remove hinge pillar panels. Pull straight out on windshield pillar garnish moldings to remove. Remove instrument panel top cover. Unsnap 2 lock arms on remote control door lock receiver module. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove remote control door lock receiver module. To install, reverse removal procedure.
