WARNING:
Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system allows driver to operate several features from outside vehicle. Main components of system are the transmitter and Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. Transmitter unit sends a radio signal to the RKE module in response to button presses by vehicle operator. RKE module then interprets signals and relays information to appropriate module to provide requested function. RKE module identifies which transmitter is being used and sends class 2 data to memory seat module to adjusts seats and mirrors to their preset positions. Perimeter lighting can be enabled to illuminate using RKE transmitter when it is dark out.
