Power Window System: Operation
Driver Door Module (DDM) directly controls driver door lock actuator, power window motor and outside mirror. DDM sends and receives messages from master switch assembly to Right Front Door Module (RFDM), Right Rear Door Module (RRDM) and Left Rear Door Module (LRDM) over Simple Bus Interface (SBI) line. DDM also sends and receives messages from other vehicle system modules over class 2 data line. DDM will enter wake-up state if any of the following wake-up inputs are detected:
- Any activity on serial data line.
- Hatch ajar switch.
- Hatch release switch.
- Door ajar switch.
- Key-in-ignition switch.
- Monitored load relay.
- Park/fog/headlights on.
- DDM experiences a battery disconnect/reconnect condition.
- Ignition switch turned to ON position.
DDM will enter sleep state when all of the following conditions exist:
- No serial data line activity exists.
- Ignition switch turned to OFF position.
- No output commands detected.
- No delay timers actively counting.
- No wake-up inputs present.
If all conditions are met, DDM enters low power or sleep condition, indicating DDM must have sent message to other systems on serial data line to stop broadcasting State Of Health (SOH) messages.
RFDM controls right front door lock actuator, power window motor and power mirror. RFDM receives direct inputs from right front door lock switch, right front power window switch and right front door jamb switch. RFDM sends and receives messages from DDM, LRDM and RRDM over SBI line.
LRDM controls left rear door lock actuator and power window motor. LRDM receives direct inputs from left rear door lock switch, left rear power window switch and left rear door jamb switch. LRDM sends and receives messages from DDM, RFDM and RRDM over SBI line.
RRDM controls right rear door lock actuator and power window motor. RRDM receives direct inputs from right rear door lock switch, right rear power window switch and right rear door jamb switch. RRDM sends and receives messages from DDM, RFDM and LRDM over SBI line.
Master switch assembly provides messages for controlling power door locks, power windows and power mirrors to DDM over SBI line. Master switch assembly contains a microprocessor which receives direct inputs from door modules and reports to all switch activity to LFDM.
Each door module is capable of performing window up/down movement, door ajar status, door lock/unlock functions, front door outside mirror controls and door switch lamp dimming.
