Charging Systems: Description
Seville uses an LR630 (150-amp) generator. Generator is liquid cooled. Engine coolant is passed through a tube molded in end frame next to electronic components to supplement air cooling.
The generator and related charging system circuitry has self-diagnostic capability. A communication process has been incorporated between Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and generator. When the generator circuit voltage passes outside of programmed limits (10-16 volts), Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will be set. The malfunction may also be indicated by BATTERY NOT CHARGING, BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW, BATTERY VOLTAGE HIGH or BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE message on the Driver Information Center (DIC).
The voltage regulator is enclosed in a solid mold, mounted inside the generator. A capacitor, mounted in the end frame, protects the rectifier bridge from high voltage and suppresses radio noise.
