Test E: Remote Keyless Entry System Inoperative
- Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If system check has been performed, go to next step.
- If RKE system is inoperative from both transmitters, go to next step. If RKE system is inoperative from one transmitter, go to step 8 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RKE module connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between RKE module connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 5 .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between RKE module connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 4 (Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 7 . If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 6 .
- Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between RKE module and rear fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Black/White wire between RKE module and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Replace transmitter battery in faulty transmitter. Recheck system operation. If RKE system is still inoperative, go to next step.
- Replace faulty transmitter. After replacement, transmitter must be programmed. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Recheck system operation.
