Position Sensors

Position sensors are used by Memory Seat Module (MSM), Door Control Modules (DCM) and steering column Tilt/Telescoping Module (TTM) to store motor positions in memory and return motors to stored memory positions. On power seats, each sensor is a potentiometer, and is mounted to each motor's transmission cable. When cable rotates, resistance of potentiometer varies, and feedback voltage is monitored by MSM to determine motor position. Feedback voltages vary from 0.25 volt to 4.75 volts.

The MSM, DCM or steering column TTM store motor positions by recording each position sensor feedback voltage. When a memorized position is requested, each motor is moved until position sensor feedback voltage equals feedback voltage stored in memory. For Easy Exit functions, seat position, power mirrors and steering wheel sensor feedback voltages are recorded.
