Test B: Power Windows Lock-Out Function Inoperative
NOTE:
This test assumes all DTCs have been diagnosed and cleared.
NOTE:
Ensure that passenger window lock-out option is programmed ON in vehicle owner customization menu. See PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article. If window lock-out selection is OFF, set it to ON and verify fault still exists.
- If door systems diagnostic systems check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic systems check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe lock-out LED indicator on rear window lock-out switch button. Momentarily press lock-out switch button. Press lock-out switch button a second time. LED should illuminate when lock-out switch button is pressed the first time, and go out when button is pressed a second time. If LED indicator illuminated as specified, go to next step. If LED indicator does not illuminate as specified, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe WINDOW LOCK-OUT SWITCH parameter in Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA) INPUTS list. Momentarily press lock-out switch button. Press lock-out switch button a second time. Parameter should display PRESSED when button is pressed, and IDLE when not being pressed. If parameter displays as specified, go to next step. If parameter does not display as specified, go to step 6 .
- Press lock-out switch button until LED indicator illuminates. Attempt to operate each rear window from window switches mounted on rear doors. If both windows operate from appropriate window switch, go to step 6 . If neither window operates, go to next step.
- If only one rear window operates as in previous step, go to step 7 . If windows do not operate as in previous step, problem may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittents, see PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in DDSA harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If no problem is found, go to step 8 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in door module harness connector of window that continued to operate. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If no problem is found, go to step 9 .
- Replace DDSA. See DRIVER DOOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step 10 .
- Replace door module of window that continued to operate. See DOOR MODULES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step 2 .
