Test E: Power Window Inoperative From Master Switch
NOTE:
Vehicle is equipped with express up, torque sensitive front door windows. When battery or power has been removed from either front door module, programming procedure will need to be performed, once power has been restored. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE
under PROGRAMMING.
- If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform door systems diagnostic system check. See DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Verify operation of power windows, by using Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA). If power windows do not operate normally, go to next step. If power windows operate normally, problem may be intermittent. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe suspect driver window switch parameter in DDSA inputs list. Operate DDSA to UP, DOWN and EXPRESS DOWN positions. Window switch parameter should change from IDLE to UP, DOWN and EXPRESS DOWN as commanded. If parameter is as specified, go to next step. If parameter is not as specified, go to step 12 .
- If inoperative window is driver window, go to next step. If inoperative window is passenger window, perform TEST D: PASSENGER DOOR POWER WINDOW INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Driver Door Module (DDM) Black 4-pin harness connector C5. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect test light between DDM harness connector C5 terminals "A" (Orange wire) and "D" (Black wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 11 .
- Connect DDM harness connector C5. Disconnect driver window motor Gray 2-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, probe window motor harness connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Operate driver window switch to UP position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9 .
- Using test light connected to ground, probe driver window motor harness connector terminal "C" (Brown wire). Operate driver window switch to DOWN position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10 .
- Connect test light between driver window motor harness connector terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "C" (Brown wire). Operate driver window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to step 13 . If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step 14 .
- Check for short to ground, open, or high resistance in left front up circuit (Dark Blue wire) between driver window motor harness connector terminal "A" and DDM harness connector C5 terminal "C". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem does not exist, go to step 14 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Check for short to ground, open, or high resistance in left front down circuit (Brown wire) between driver window motor harness connector terminal "C" and DDM harness connector C5 terminal "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem does not exist, go to step 14 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Check for open, or high resistance in Orange wire between rear fuse block and DDM harness connector C5 terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem does not exist, go to step 15 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in DDSA harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step 16 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in driver window motor harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step 17 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in DDM harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step 18 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Repair open in ground circuit between ground and DDM harness connector C5 (Black wire). Ground point is located on left front corner, below front of sill trim. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, go to step 19 .
- Replace DDSA. See WINDOW SWITCH ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Replace driver window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR REGULATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 19 .
- Replace DDM. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform window motor programming. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step 2 .
