Test C: Power Windows Lock-Out Function Inoperative: Notes
NOTE:
This test assumes all DTCs have been diagnosed.
NOTE:
Vehicle is equipped with express up, torque sensitive front door windows. When battery or power has been removed from either front door module, programming procedure will need to be performed, once power has been restored. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE
under PROGRAMMING.
- If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform door systems diagnostic system check. See DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Using Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA), operate all power windows to verify if lock-out function is operating normally. If lock-out function does not operate normally, go to next step. If lock-out function operates normally, problem may be intermittent. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe window lock-out switch parameter in Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA) inputs list. Momentarily press lock-out switch. Press lock-out switch a second time. Parameter should display ACTIVE with switch pressed, and IDLE when pressed a second time. If parameter is as specified, go to next step. If parameter is not as specified, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe lock-out LED indicator while momentarily pressing lock-out switch to ON and OFF positions. Lock-out LED should illuminate with switch pressed on, then go out when switch is pressed off. If lock-out LED indicator illuminates as specified, go to next step. If lock-out LED indicator does not illuminate as specified, go to step 6 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in suspect door module harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step 7 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in DDSA harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step 8 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Replace DDM. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform window motor programming. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Replace DDSA. See WINDOW SWITCH ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step 2 .
NOTE:
Ensure passenger window lock-out option is selected as ON in vehicle owner customization menu. If window lockout selection is OFF, set it to ON and verify that fault still exists. See REAR WINDOW LOCK-OUT FEATURE
under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION.
