Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Check for an open or short to ground in Orange wire between ground and terminal No. 16 at Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. If an open or short to ground does not exist, go to next step. If an open or short to ground exists, repair wiring harness as necessary. After repair is complete, perform POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Check for an open in Black wire between ground and terminal No. 4 at DLC. If an open does not exist, go to next step. If an open exists, repair wiring harness as necessary. After repair is complete, perform POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  3. Inspect terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 16 (Orange wire) at DLC for poor connections. If connections are okay, go to next step. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair is complete, perform POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  4. Scan tool may be faulty. See scan tool manufacturer's user guide. Obtain a known-good scan tool. Perform POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
