Remote Keyless Entry System Diagnostic System Check

NOTE:
Use this check as starting point for any remote keyless entry system complaint.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Try to establish scan tool communication with Body Control Module (BCM). If communication with BCM is established, go to next step. If communication with BCM is not established, see TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for BCM. Record all displayed DTCs and status of displayed DTCs. If DTCs are present, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate symptom test. See SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article.
- Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are not present, go to next step. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are present, see TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Check for DTC B1000 or B1004. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000 or B1004, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTCs B1000 or B1004, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . Repair as necessary.
- Check for DTC B1339 or B1349. If scan tool does not display DTC B1339 or B1349, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTCs B1339 or B1349, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . Repair as necessary.
- Check for DTC B1482, B1483, B1507 or B1508. If scan tool does not display DTC B1482, B1483, B1507 or B1508, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If scan tool displays DTC B1482, B1483, B1507 or B1508, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . Repair as necessary.
