Circuit Description

NOTE: Spark Tester (J-26792) and TBI Harness Test Light (J-34730-2C) are required to perform this procedure. See Figure and Figure .

This distributorless ignition system consists of 2 electronic ignition modules, a Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, and the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM performs all of the electronic ignition module functions. The electronic ignition module has voltage supplied by an ignition feed circuit and also contains a dedicated ground circuit. The remaining 3 circuits go to the ECM and are the electronic ignition module circuits. The ECM causes a spark to occur by pulsing an electronic ignition module circuit, which triggers an ignition coil and fires the appropriate spark plug. The ECM controls the sequencing and the timing internally.
