Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.
  2. Fig 1: Loosening Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamps

  3. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps (1, 2).
  4. Partially remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the air cleaner housing to gain access to the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor electrical connector.

  6. Disconnect the MAF/IAT sensor electrical connector (1).
  7. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct assembly.
  8. Remove the MAF/IAT if necessary. Loosen the MAF/IAT clamp (2).
  9. NOTE:
    • Handle the MAF sensor carefully.
    • Do not drop the MAF sensor in order to prevent damage to the MAF sensor.
    • Do not damage the screen located on the air inlet end of the MAF.
    • Do not touch the sensing elements.
    • Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements.
    • Use a small amount of a soap based solution in order to aid in the installation.

  10. Remove the MAF/IAT sensor from the air cleaner outlet duct. Note the position of the MAF/IAT sensor.
