Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .
  2. Install the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement .

  3. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering reservoir.
  7. Remove the drain pan from under vehicle.
  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.6L.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
