Removal Procedure

- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Remove the ignition coil cover from the cam cover by lifting straight up, if equipped.
- Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) vent solenoid electrical connector, if necessary, to gain access to the individual coil being serviced.
- Remove the AIR check valve, if necessary, to gain access to the individual coil being serviced. Refer to Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Shut-Off Valve Replacement - Bank 1 .
- Disconnect the ignition coil wiring harness electrical connector from the coil that needs to be replaced.
- Remove the ignition coil retaining bolt.
- Carefully remove the ignition coil.

- If removal of all the coils are necessary, disconnect the main coil wiring harness at the cam cover.

- Remove the coil assembly retaining bolts and studs.
- Carefully remove the ignition coil assembly.
