Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2008 GMC Yukon XL, 2008 GMC Yukon, 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Rear Vision System Always On
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, vehicle in PARK, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit test normal, refer to Backup Lamps Malfunction .
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
Service Rear Vision Camera System is Displayed
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, vehicle in PARK, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 2 and the ground circuit terminal 3.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Park brake applied, transmission in REVERSE, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module and disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, command the backup lamps with a scan tool.
- Test for 5.8-6.2 volts between the 6-volt reference circuit terminal A and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- If greater than the specified range, test the reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm between the camera video signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the camera video signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the rearview camera module.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm along the signal circuit terminal C to terminal 9.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rearview camera.
