Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the safing sensor and the harness connector at the PIDS module.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the safing sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than infinite resistance, test the circuit for a short to ground.
  3. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the safing sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
  4. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the safing sensor low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
  5. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the safing sensor low reference circuit terminal 2 and the PIDS module terminal 31.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the safing sensor.
  6. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the safing sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and the PIDS module terminal 30.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the safing sensor.
  7. If all circuits test normal, replace the safing sensor.
  8. With a scan tool, clear DTCs.
  9. Verify DTC B009D is not set.
    • If DTC is set, replace the PIDS module.
