Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Power Steering Pump

  1. Position the power steering pump (3) on the vehicle.
    2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Install the power steering pump bolts (1, 2) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  3. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose seal (2) and hose (1) to the power steering pump. Use a NEW seal only.
  4. Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose (1) to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  5. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose (3) to the power steering pump and secure with the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose clamp (2).
  6. Secure the power steering fluid inlet hose in the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose retaining clips (1).

  7. Position the power steering gear inlet hose (2) on the engine block.
  8. Install the power steering gear inlet hose bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  9. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  10. Install the three-way catalytic convertor. Refer to Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Front LF3) , Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Rear LF3) .
  11. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  12. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
