Circuit/System Description
The vehicle has two external indicators of charging status. The status of charging events, including delays, is communicated to the user through the vehicle charge status indicator, audio tones, and by green indicator lights located in the outside rearview mirrors. The vehicle charge status indicator, located on the top middle of the instrument panel, contains a green LED, charge status indicator, and yellow LED, charge pilot indicator, controlled by the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 and a second green LED, charge complete indicator, controlled by the BCM.
When the vehicle is plugged in and the vehicle power is off, the vehicle charge status indicator indicates the following:
- Solid Green - Battery is charging under automatic control.
- Long Flashing Green - Battery charging is delayed and will begin later.
- Short Flashing Green - Battery charging is complete.
- Solid Yellow - It is normal for the CSI to turn yellow for a few seconds after plugging in a charge cord. The solid yellow may be extended depending on the vehicle temperature or if there is a total utility interruption. This may also indicate that the charging system has detected a fault and will not charge the battery.
- Not Lit - If there is no indicator lit it means the electronic vehicle supply equipment is not working properly or not connected.
In addition to the vehicle charge status indicator that is located on the top middle of the instrument panel, charge status information is provided by green indicator lights located in the outside rearview mirrors.
When the vehicle is plugged in and the vehicle power is off, the outside rearview mirror status indicator indicates the following:
- Solid green - Battery is charging and is less than half complete.
- Fast flashing - Battery is charging. Battery is more than half complete.
- Slow flashing - Battery is charging. Battery is nearly complete.
- Off - Not charging, or the indicators have been disabled via Vehicle Personalization.
