Removal Procedure
WARNING:
Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .
CAUTION:
Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution .
CAUTION:
To prevent equipment damage, never connect or disconnect the wiring harness connection from the EBCM with the ignition switch in the ON position.
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
- Without draining the coolant and without disconnecting the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LFX, LF3) .
- Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
- Thoroughly clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area of any accumulated dirt and debris.
- Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
- Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (2).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the right rear brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the left front brake pipe fitting (2).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the right front brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the left rear brake pipe fitting (2).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove the BPMV assembly bracket nuts (1).
- Remove the BPMV assembly.
- Remove the BPMV assembly bracket bolt (1).
- Carefully separate the BPMV assembly from the bracket.
- Remove the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement .
